Cloak reports what desktop Chrome observed or changed. It separates different kinds of protection, preserves tested shopping actions, keeps customer-started price checks local, and states what it cannot know.
Trackers and ads stay separate
Cloak classifies matched tracking and advertising requests separately instead of combining them into one inflated number.
Browser data explained
Cloak can clear covered cookies and browser storage that Chrome exposes. It cannot erase a store's account, order history, or hidden server records.
Selected clues reduced
Tests cover selected graphics, audio, device, language, font, hardware, and persistent-ID clues. Cloak does not claim anonymity or universal fingerprint prevention.
Privacy signals sent
The receipt can show that Cloak sent GPC and DNT preferences. It cannot prove that every site honored them.
Visible cues flagged
Supported countdowns, scarcity language, repeated urgency, and renewal wording can trigger a calm local warning. A warning is not proof of a scam or manipulated price.
Selected signals limited
Tests cover how often selected scrolling, pointer movement, and page-visibility signals are delivered. Cloak does not fabricate shopper behavior.
Protection is visible
Window, monthly, and all-time receipts show browser-visible actions without sending browsing history to Cloak.
Shopping still works
Fixtures verify supported searches, filters, variants, carts, currency, and checkout state. Live stores can still change.
Clear choices only
Tests verify that optional consent assistance prefers recognizable reject, necessary-only, and opt-out choices while avoiding accept-all and ambiguous controls.
Price checks stay local
Tests cover clean offer identity, visible-price capture, private timelines, search, sorting, and alerts when a current price exceeds a lower local observation.
Prompts stop after activation
Tests verify staged, rate-limited trial prompts, persistent dismissal state, final-day local totals, and suppression for active paid entitlements.
Aliases are deterministic and optional
Tests verify that enabled Gmail-style sub-addressing derives one merchant-specific address and only targets empty checkout email fields. Cloak does not claim to provide email forwarding.
Release verification
Tested, not hand-waved.
The current source passes request, URL, browser-recognition, consent, cookie-hardening, local price-history, storage, activation, receipt, reset, permission, and shopping-compatibility regression suites. These tests verify packaged behavior, not every future version of every store.
The evidence boundary
What Cloak cannot see.
Cloak cannot inspect hidden backend profiles, server logs, inventory systems, native apps, or why a merchant selected a price. A local price difference is an observation, not proof of personalization or discrimination.
